Description

A delicious twist on classic Sloppy Joes served in a bread bowl.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 4 large boule bread
  • 1 cup shredded cheese


Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned; drain excess fat.
  2. Add onions and bell peppers, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and chili powder; simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Cut the tops off the boules and hollow out the insides.
  5. Fill the bread bowls with the sloppy joe mixture and top with cheese.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F until heated through and cheese is melted.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapenos to the mixture.
  • These can be made ahead and stored in the fridge until ready to bake.
  • Serve with a side of pickles for extra flavor.
