Description

This Lower Sugar Banana Bread is a healthier twist on the classic recipe. It’s perfect for breakfast or a snack!


Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas.
  3. Add the applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped nuts if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let cool before slicing and serving.
