- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the ziti according to package instructions until al dente; drain.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef, onion, and garlic; cook until meat is browned.
- Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning, then simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked ziti, meat sauce, ricotta cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with mushrooms or lentils.
- This recipe can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
