Description

A rich and indulgent dessert made with dark chocolate and bread, perfect for chocolate lovers.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf day-old brioche or challah bread, torn into pieces
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate chunks


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the torn bread pieces with milk and cream. Let it soak for about 15 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, vanilla, and salt until combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the soaked bread, gently folding until incorporated.
  5. Fold in the dark chocolate chunks.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  7. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until the top is golden and a knife inserted comes out clean.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
