Description
This authentic and fragrant Chicken Biryani is a one-pot dish that combines aromatic spices and tender chicken with basmati rice for a delightful meal.

- 2 cups basmati rice
- 500 grams chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- 2 teaspoons biryani masala
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons garam masala
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 4 cups water
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 4 cardamom pods
- 4 cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/4 cup chopped mint leaves
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Wash and soak the basmati rice for 30 minutes, then drain.
- In a large pot, heat oil and sauté sliced onions until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and cook until fragrant.
- Add chicken pieces and cook until they start to brown.
- Stir in the biryani masala, turmeric powder, and salt.
- Add yogurt, green chilies, cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon. Mix well.
- Add the soaked rice and water. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 20-25 minutes until rice is cooked.
- Turn off the heat and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with cilantro and mint before serving.
Notes
- For best results, use aged basmati rice.
- Adjust spices according to your taste.
- You can also add fried onions for extra flavor.
