Description

A delicious and easy breakfast dish made with layers of bread, blueberries, and a sweet custard.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut the French bread into cubes and place half in a greased baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle half of the blueberries over the bread.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread and blueberries.
  6. Layer the remaining bread cubes and blueberries, then pour the rest of the egg mixture on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown and set.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • This dish can be prepared the night before and baked in the morning.
  • Try adding nuts or other fruits for variation.
