Description

Achari Aloo is a spicy and tangy potato dish made with pickling spices, perfect as a side dish.


Ingredients

  • 500 grams potatoes, boiled and peeled
  • 2 tablespoons mustard oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon nigella seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon mango powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves


Instructions

  1. Heat mustard oil in a pan until it starts to smoke.
  2. Add cumin, fennel, and nigella seeds. Let them splutter.
  3. Then add turmeric, red chili powder, and salt, and sauté for a minute.
  4. Add the boiled potatoes and mango powder; mix well to coat the potatoes with spices.
  5. Cook for 5-7 minutes on low heat, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.

  • For a richer flavor, you can add a bit of garlic and ginger paste.
